I’ll be honest with you, men, there are days when I wake up and I just feel like I’m losing. Not just losing a game or losing my car keys, but losing the ground I’ve fought so hard to gain in my walk with Christ. I’m a pastor, I lead a ministry, and I’ve written books, but the enemy doesn't care about my title. In fact, he probably hates me more because of it.
I’ve spent too many nights staring at the ceiling, feeling the weight of the world on my chest, wondering why the same old temptations still come knocking at my door or why my prayer life feels like I’m shouting into a void. If you’ve ever felt like that, I want you to know you aren’t alone. I’ve been there. I am there sometimes.
The truth is, we are at war. The Apostle Paul didn't mince words when he wrote to the church at Ephesus. He told us exactly what we’re up against:
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12, LSB)
If we are in a war, we need a strategy. We need tools. For years, I’ve been praying for a way to give men a "war room" they can carry in their pockets, a way to leverage the very technology that often distracts us and turn it into a weapon for the Kingdom. That’s why we built the Man Up God's Way app. It’s not just another digital distraction; it’s a tactical command center for the modern Christian man.
The Power of the "War Room"
In military terms, a war room is where the maps are spread out, the intel is gathered, and the orders are given. It’s a place of focus. For us, that focus has to be prayer.
I struggle with prayer. There, I said it. I get distracted. I say I’ll pray for a brother, and then life happens, and I forget. I hate that about myself. I want to be a man of my word, but my flesh is weak.
That’s why we created the War Room feature inside the app. It’s a dedicated space where you can post your needs, real, raw needs, and watch as brothers from all over the world respond with "Amen" or "Oh Me." It’s more than just a list; it’s a living wall of intercession. When I post a struggle in the War Room, and I see those notifications coming in that men are actually praying for me right then, something shifts in the atmosphere. The "world forces of darkness" start to lose their grip because the "technology" of prayer is being activated.
Is there unbelief in your life today? Are you struggling to believe God hears you? I’ve been there. But I’ve found that when I engage in the War Room, my faith is bolstered by the faith of the brothers around me. We weren't meant to carry these burdens solo.

When the Heat is On: The "Under Fire" System
Let’s get even more real. There are moments: you know the ones: where the temptation is so loud it’s almost physical. Maybe you’re on a business trip in a lonely hotel room. Maybe you’re scrolling late at night and that one image pops up. Maybe your anger is boiling over and you’re about to say something that will tear your family apart.
In those moments, you don't need a 30-minute sermon. You need a lifeline. You need a brother to grab your hand and pull you back from the ledge.
We built the Under Fire feature for exactly this reason. It’s an immediate accountability request. When you are "Under Fire," you hit that button, and it alerts your inner circle: your brotherhood. It’s the digital version of a soldier calling for backup when his position is being overrun.
I’ve had to hit that button. It’s humbling. It’s embarrassing to admit that at my age and with my experience, I still need another man to talk me down or pray me through a moment of weakness. But that humility is where the power of God flows. If we aren't willing to admit we are under fire, we are going to get burned.
If you are an atheist reading this today, or someone who has walked away from the faith because you saw too much hypocrisy, I want you to know that this is what real Christianity looks like. it’s not about being perfect; it’s about being honest enough to say, "I’m losing this fight, help me."
Moving from the Screen to the Streets: War Groups
I love technology, but it has a limit. Digital brotherhood is great, but it’s a supplement, not a replacement for face-to-face, iron-sharpening-iron relationships. I’ve seen too many men become "keyboard warriors" who have no actual community in their own zip code.
This is why the War Groups feature is so vital to our vision. Through the app, you can find licensed discipleship groups in your city. There’s a map view that shows you where other men are meeting. These are private, secure discussion boards that lead to real-life meetups.
We need to be in each other’s lives. We need to be able to look a brother in the eye and ask, "How is your soul? How is your marriage? Are you actually reading the Word?"
I’ve noticed that when I isolate, I stagnate. When I’m alone, my thoughts become a dangerous neighborhood to walk in. But when I’m part of a War Group, I have a squad. We study the Daily Devotionals together, we challenge each other in our Spiritual Growth, and we hold the line together.
"And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25, LSB)
A Unified Front
The core benefit of the Man Up app is that it brings everything into one place. For the longest time, I had one app for my Bible, another for my fitness tracking, another for my podcasts, and I’d use social media for "community": which usually just ended up with me feeling frustrated or distracted.
We’ve integrated it all. We have the 365-Day Bible Reading Plans and a massive fitness database with over 330 exercises because I believe God cares about your body as much as your soul. Your body is a temple, and a neglected temple doesn't serve the King very well.
I’ve made the mistake of separating my "spiritual life" from my "physical life" for too long. I’d pray in the morning and then eat junk and sit on the couch all day. It doesn't work. True biblical masculinity is about discipline across the board. The app helps me track my steps and calories right alongside my scripture memorization streaks. It’s all one life, lived for one Glory.

Why This Matters Now
Look, the world is getting darker. You don’t need me to tell you that. The pressures on men to compromise, to passivity, and to silence are at an all-time high. If we don't have a strategy, we will be swept away.
I don't want to reach the end of my life and realize I was just a spectator in the Kingdom of God. I want to be a participant. I want to be a man who fought the good fight.
Maybe you’re reading this and you feel like a "Recruit": someone who is just starting out, or maybe someone who has stumbled so many times you feel like you’ve been demoted. The beauty of the Gospel is that there is always grace for the humble. The app even has a gamified system where you can earn "Rations" and move from Recruit to Elder, but that’s just a reflection of the real growth happening in your heart.
I invite you to join us. Not because the app is perfect: it’s built by men, and we are flawed: but because the mission is perfect. We are reclaiming biblical masculinity, one man at a time, one prayer at a time, one workout at a time.

Don't fight this war alone. Step into the War Room. Get under the accountability of brothers who actually give a rip about your soul. Find a War Group in your city and start showing up.
The battle is already won by Christ, but the skirmishes we face today require us to be sober, alert, and armed. Let’s man up, God’s way.
Soli Deo Gloria, Pastor Jody
